TenPoint Stealth NXT ACUdraw Pro Elite Package – 410 FPS Crossbow Review

Tenpoint released the Stealth NXT 410 fps crossbow along with the Shadow NXT back in 2018. The Stealth NXT was named the crossbow of the year because of its excellent performance in the field.

Distances of 100 yards are no problem for this beast of a crossbow and as the name implies the Stealth NXT is a silent stealth crossbow. In addition, it is ultra-compact and lightweight so it offers excellent maneuverability.

Size and Weight

The most striking thing about this crossbow is its compact narrow design. The Stealth NXT measures a full length of 33.6 inches, with a width of 11.3 inches uncocked(axle to axle,) and once cocked a mere 6 inches. The crossbow is designed to be as light as possible. The CNC Machined riser is made from aluminum as well as The Tac Lite barrel and the trigger housing. The Shadow NXT tips the scales at 7.3 pounds.

Design and Construction

The crossbow has a skeletal stock with a cheekpiece that can be adjusted for a better eye alignment and an adjustable butt plate. RX6 cams that rotate 340-degrees to reach a velocity of 410 fps, they also ensure that the shot itself is also extremely quiet. The Vector Quad 4 cable system keeps the cams level. The barrel of the crossbow reduces vibrations and dampens the crossbow significantly. The crossbow has rubber safety wings to keep your hand safely below the flight deck.

Speed and Arrows

We used three different Tenpoint bolts to test the Stealth NLX. With the EVO-X CentePunch arrows that are included in the package we reached speeds in the range of 350-390 fps.

We also tested the crossbow with the Pro Elite Arrows from Tenpoint and with Tenpoint’s Pro Lite arrows. With the Pro Lite Arrows we measured 410.6 fps.

Scope

The Rangemaster pro scope that comes with the ACUdraw Pro package is a premium Tenpoint scope. The 8.25-inch scope is made from aluminum and features a variable speed and arrow-drop compensation setting.

The scope has three duplex crosshairs and five dots. The dots are calibrated for 20- yards , 30-yards, 40-yards, 50-yards and 60-yards. The glass is crystal clear and the scope has no fish eye.

Cocking

Thanks to the ACUdraw Pro cocking system, a self-retracting rope cocking device you can cock the crossbow effortlessly and silently. The device is fully integrated into the stock. It reduces the draw weight by 50%. The cocking device has an auto-engaging lever. The pro converts the crossbows draw weight to 8.5-pounds of effort and it only requires 12 cranks!

You can choose to buy the Stealth NXT with a regular ACUdraw cocking device, the ACUdraw pro, the ACUdraw 50 sled, or the ACUdraw pro elite package on Amazon. I recommend the Acudraw pro elite package myself. It is the most advanced and superior version of the ACUdraw technology.

The ACUdraw Pro cocks a crossbow an incredible 43% faster than previous ACUdraw models. The cocking device can be safely used by anyone. Therefore it is very safe and suited for father-son hunting trips. Optionally, you can buy an ACUtorq crank handle that completely eliminates the possibility of over-cranking, you can check it out on Amazon.

Trigger and Shooting

The 3.5-pound trigger is very sensitive and smooth. It produces clean crisp shots with zero creep and no vibrations. The trigger is ambidextrous, so it can be used by right-handed as well as left-handed hunters. The trigger has an auto safety function and anti-dry fire tech that prevents your crossbow from dry firing.

We speed tested the crossbow wth the chronograph we use to speed test all crossbows that pass our review table. The power stroke of 13.5 inches and a 220 pound draw weight give the crossbow a lot of power and speed.

We measured speeds up to 411.5 feet per second with the Lite Arrows(370-grain.) With the EVO-X CenterPunch arrows(445-grain) 370.7 feet per second and with the Pro Elite arrows(425-grain) 392.2 FPS.

The scope is excellent, I was dead on target upon distances up to 60-yards. This crossbow is meant for big and fast game. Its compact design also makes the crossbow perfectly suited to be used in a tree stand. Thanks to the four cable system and the Tac Lite barrel, the crossbow shoots remarkably quietly and the camo lets you blend into your environment.

Assembly and Storage

The Stealth NXT comes pre-assembled. You only have to mount the scope and install the three-arrow quiver. The scope is attached to a machined aluminum 7/8-inch Adjustable Dovetail Scope Mount. It takes a couple of shots to fine-tune the scope.

The STAG Hard Crossbow Case from Tenpoint is a great high quality case that holds the Stealth NXT perfectly.

Made in the good old USA, this stealth crossbow was one of the best crossbows in 2018 and it still is a really impressive crossbow in 2020.
