Size, Weight and Feel
The Sub-1 XR is a very compact crossbow. Its width measures 9.1 inches cocked and 12.5 inches uncocked and measures 30.5 inches in length. The Mission Archery Sub-1 XR is therefor ideal for hunting in tree stands, hunting blinds or bushy places.
Weighing only 7.6 lbs this crossbow is very well balanced and doesn’t feel nose heavy. Mission really perfected this crossbow.
The stock is also adjustable for maximum shooting comfort. In addition, it has a spirit level on it so you can be sure that your crossbow is straight when shooting.
Speed and Arrows
Included in this crossbow package are arrows from Mission. These 350GR arrows are 19 inches long and perfect for shooting speeds of up to 410 feet per second.
These arrows come with aluminum nocks that are half-moon shaped.
Scope
The scope that Mission mounted on this crossbow is from Hawke. It’s a Hawke XB-1 1.5×32 SR Etched Reticle,Variable speed, 2-color Illuminated scope with match-grade rings.
Once you’ve sighted the scope in at 20 yards, all other distances are perfectly sighted as well. With this Hawke scope on the Sub-1 XR, you should easily be able to hit targets at 100 yard distances easily.
The quiver can be adjusted to a right or left handed person. It’s very easy to detach the quiver using the patented “claw system”.
Assembling and Disassembling
The Mission Archery Sub-1 XR comes mostly assembled. You only have to attach the quiver, cock the crossbow and you’re ready to shoot!
Cocking
The Mission Archery Sub-1 XR has an adjustable draw weight of 150 to 250 lbs. And has a let-off of 80% percent. There’s a total of 6 different draw weights that you are able to choose from. Included with the Sub-1 XR is a rope cocker.
Cocking the Sub-1 XR is fairly easy with the rope cocker. The Mission Archery Sub-1 XR has to be the easiest crossbow you can cock by hand/rope cocker.
However, de-cocking the Sub-1 XR is as easy as pushing a button. Seriously! You can de-cock the Sub-1 XR by pressing the button just beneath the scope. No need to pull a trigger or shoot a bolt! Mission used Benchmark Fire Control technology to accomplish this.
There’s an integrated foot stirrup machined in the riser of the crossbow. Mission did this to reduce the total length of the crossbow.
Mission also offers a Removable Silent Draw System. The RDS system fits all Mission’s crossbows and makes cocking Mission’s crossbows very easy. It’s an upgrade for your crossbow that saves you a lot of hassle and should only cost you less than $200.
Shooting and Trigger
Mission’s Sub-1 XR comes with a match-grade trigger with a trigger pull of 3 lbs. The trigger feels really crisp.
The butt stock and ambidextrous cheek-piece are adjustable for the perfect fit and feel. The Mission Sub-1 XR is really one of the better crossbows out there.
The safety will automatically engage when you cock the crossbow and the anti-dry fire prevents the safety from being moved in the fire position without the arrow being moved into the flight deck.
The Mission Sub-1 XR does exactly when Mission advertised with; shoot groups sub 1 inch at 100 yards.
Extra Features
Mission fully synced the cam system, eliminating horizontal nock travel. This unique cam system also makes sure you can effortlessly cock and de-cock the crossbow.
The Sub-1 XR also comes with a patented flight deck which eliminates vertical nock travel. Together the with the synced cams, this setup ensures high accuracy down-range.
The optional RSD system is also unique. The RSD system allows for easy and dead-silent cocking of the crossbow. Similar to TenPoint’s ACUdraw system on the TenPoint Vapor RS470.
What’s in the box?
Mission delivers these crossbows ready-to-hunt. All of Mission’s crossbows come with a soft-sided case. This soft-sided case is designed to protect all Mission Crossbows.
The case includes a durable zipper and contains an outside quiver pouch to safely store your quiver and arrows. A side pouch is also easily accessible to store all your crossbow accessories. The case has a heavy duty handle that makes carrying your crossbow case easy.
