The Barnett Hyper Whitetail 410 is the first crossbow in Barnett’s popular Whitetail line that utilizes the brand’s patented Hyperflite technology. Here’s our review of the much anticipated Barnett Hyper Whitetail 410 crossbow.

Whitetail crossbows from Barnett are known to be very accurate crossbows. The Hyper Whitetail 410 takes this to the next level by adding Hyperflite technology that allows the Hyper Whitetail 410 to use small .204 diameter arrows for even more precision and also better penetration compared to crossbows that shoot standard diameter arrows.

In the package, we found the Barnett Hyper Whitetail 410, an illuminated 4×32 scope, crank cocking device or rope cocking sled(depending on the package), two 22-inch Hyperflite Arrows, Premium Side-Mount Quiver, installation hardware, and lubrication wax.

Size and Weight

The Hyper Whitetail 410 is a narrow crossbow with an overal length of 36.5 inches and an axle-to-axle width of 9.1875 inches once cocked. The crossbow weighs 7.6 pounds.

Design and Construction

Everything we crossbow enthusiasts love about Barnett’s Whitetail crossbows is still there. The Hyper Whitetail 410 is built on a durable Whitetail Pro stock and uses a new narrow front end with reverse cams. The crossbow features a pass-through foregrip, soft rubber touchpoints, and a CNC Machined aluminum flight track for enhanced accuracy.

Like most of Barnett’s crossbows, the Hyper Whitetail comes with three Picatinny Rails on which you can attach the scope, as well as additional equipment. Barnett also decided to install string dampeners to dampen the Hyper Whitetail down, to make sure the crossbow doesn’t make too much noise during the shooting process. Barnett finished the crossbow with Mossy Oak Country DNA Camo.

Optics

The Hyper Whitetail comes with a 4x32mm Illuminated Scope. The scope offers a clear view and is illuminated for low light conditions. The scope is also shock resistant and waterproof.

Trigger

The Hyper Whitetail is built with a TriggerTech trigger system, which is still one of the best crossbow trigger systems that are currently on the market. This 3-pound, zero creep trigger system contains Frictionless Release Technology.

Frictionless Release Technology creates a free-floating roller between the pin and the trigger. This makes for a smoother, and lighter trigger. A TriggerTech trigger release gives you full confidence to take a shot. The trigger assembly features a nice Metal Injection Molded (MIM) Trigger.

Safety

The trigger system contains nock sensors and anti dry fire (ADF) to prevent you from accidentally dry firing your crossbow, which would damage the crossbow and maybe even be hazardous to your health. It also prevents the release from occurring when you cock a crossbow or place a bolt. After cocking a crossbow manually disengages the safety switch to fire.

The Soft Lok Floating Bristle Arrow Retainer ensures your arrows don’t drift while shooting and the fligh deck is built with finger safety reminders that prevent your fingers and thumbs from entering the strings flight path.

Cocking

You can buy the Hyper Whitetail 410 with a cocking crank or with a rope cocking sled that is very easy to draw once you adjust the length of the sled rope. The Hyper Whitetail 410 still has the option for a crank.

Arrows and Quiver

The HyperFlite arrows are Barnett’s revolutionary small diameter arrows. These arrows are designed specifically for use with Hyper series crossbows. The HyperFlite arrows are 22 inches long and have a .204-inch shaft diameter. They have a .001-inch straightness.

Barnett HyperFlite Arrow

Barnett promises up to 25 percent deeper penetration with 410 feet per second for deadly accurate kills. The Premium Side-Mount Quiver is a surprisingly high-quality durable quiver from Barnett that holds a total of three arrows.

Speed and Accuracy

This powerfull crossbow boasts a 15-inch power stroke and a 190 pound pull weight. The Hyper Whitetail 410 shoots arrows with velocities up to 410 feet per second and is capable of delivering 142 ft. lbs. of kinetic energy. Barnett speed tested the crossbow using a 380 grain arrow.

The power and speed of this crossbow combined with the precision and penetration of a .204” arrow delivers hits unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The HyperFlite arrows sinks deep with unbelievable penetration.

Assembly and Sighting-in

Barnett designed the Hyper Whitetail 410 with single bolt assembly, which means that it only takes one bolt to assemble or disassemble the crossbow. This is of course especially interesting for beginners that are looking for an easy-to-use and easy-to-set-up crossbow.

Recommended Accessories

Arrows & Broadheads

We recommend using 22-inch HyperFlite arrows and combine them with Bloodsport Nitefall Broadheads. These mechanical broadheads feature two razor-sharp expandable blades that open efficiently upon impact for a devastating 2-inch cut. They weigh 100 grain.

Storage and Transportation

As there is no crossbow case in the package, we recommend buying a crossbow case to keep the crossbow safe and carry it on hunting trips. The Whitetail Hunter EVA is a fine crossbow case from Barnett that fits the crossbow. The case has a waterproof zipper and the interior is padded for safe transport.

[amazon table=”8276″]

There is also no crossbow sling in the package. We recommend buying a Talon sling from Barnett. Its a good quality black sling that you can adjust from 32 inches to 40 inches. The sling also features extreme grip padding so it won’t be slipping off your shoulders repeatedly as you walk around.
